The spirit of tourism, culture, and African hospitality came alive on 21st May 2026 as the 10th edition of the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE 2026) officially opened at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala, Uganda. Hosted by the Uganda Tourism Board, the event brought together tourism stakeholders, international buyers, investors, tour operators, and media from across the world.
At the center of the opening ceremony was President Yoweri Museveni, who officially launched POATE 2026 and reaffirmed Uganda’s commitment to growing tourism as a key driver of economic transformation. During his address, President Museveni highlighted Uganda’s unique climate, culture, peace, hospitality, and natural beauty, emphasizing why Uganda remains the true “Pearl of Africa.”
The President also called for friendlier visa policies and stronger regional integration to boost tourism and investment across Africa. He noted that tourism continues to create employment opportunities, generate foreign exchange, and position Uganda as a leading destination for both leisure and MICE tourism.
For Altric Africar Safaris, participating in POATE 2026 was an incredible opportunity to connect with global travel buyers, showcase authentic Ugandan experiences, and promote sustainable community tourism initiatives such as the Namutamba Tea Experience and the Tree Legacy Experience.
The expo atmosphere reflected Africa’s diversity through cultural showcases, exhibitions, networking sessions, and destination marketing activities. Industry leaders and tourism innovators gathered under the theme of promoting Uganda as a competitive and unforgettable travel destination.
As Altric Africar Safaris continues building meaningful partnerships and sustainable travel experiences, POATE 2026 marks another important milestone in sharing Uganda’s beauty, culture, and hospitality with the world.
