Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali International Airport – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Arrive at Kigali International Airport and meet your Altric Africar Safaris guide. Enjoy a short Kigali city tour, visiting the Genocide Memorial and local markets before heading to Volcanoes National Park. Dinner and overnight with views of the Virunga ranges.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & Dian Fossey Tomb Hike

Early breakfast, then head to the park headquarters for a briefing before the once-in-a-lifetime gorilla trekking experience. Spend an hour with a gorilla family in their misty mountain habitat. After lunch, hike to Dian Fossey’s Tomb to honor her conservation legacy.

Day 3: Transfer to Uganda – Visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary – Proceed to Murchison Falls

Depart Volcanoes after breakfast, cross into Uganda via Cyanika border, and drive to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for an exciting rhino tracking walk. Continue to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest and oldest conservation area.

Day 4: Game Drive & Boat Safari on the Nile

Enjoy an early game drive through the savannah plains in search of lions, elephants, giraffes, leopards, and buffalo. In the afternoon, take a boat cruise on the Nile to the base of the falls — a perfect spot for hippos, crocodiles, and birdwatching.

Day 5: Hike to the Top of the Falls – Transfer to Kibale National Park

After breakfast, take a guided hike to the top of Murchison Falls, where the Nile forces through a narrow gorge with spectacular power. Continue the scenic drive through Fort Portal to Kibale National Park, the “Primate Capital of the World.”

Day 6: Chimpanzee Trekking & Cultural Experience

Head for morning chimpanzee trekking in Kibale’s lush rainforest. Watch playful chimps and other primates such as red-tailed and colobus monkeys. In the afternoon, enjoy a community cultural experience, visiting local craftspeople and learning traditional dances.

Day 7: Transfer to Entebbe – Departure
